Green Apple Gala       Over 230 guests attended the Green Apple Gala at the Crowne Plaza Expo Center. As guests entered, they were ushered into the lovely ballroom. Green Chinese lanterns, crisp white tablecloths, and shiny Granny Smith apples reflected the light from the flickering tea light candles. The tables were graced by lovely flowers and tall tapered vases overflowing with luscious apples. Stunning photographs of Veritas students lined the ballroom as a reminder of the reason we were coming together to support our school. Each student’s personality was beautifully captured in these black and white portraits.
The silent auction items were displayed in creative and artistic ways. Excitement ran high when Matt Holiday auctioned the class projects, taking advantage of parent enthusiasm for the unique items created by our students. (Thank you, Veritas teachers and Room Parent Coordinators for overseeing the design of these projects!) The choice of silent auction items was varied and, as a result, appealed to the guests. Some bidders took home jewelry, items for the home, and sports memorabilia, while others bid on trips, gift certificates to restaurants, and dinner parties for future enjoyment.        After dinner, the live auction began with a wide variety of items, including vacations, a Zebra rug, vintage wines, and handmade quilts (another class project). There was something for everyone! As the live auction came to an end, bidding began on the designated Fund-a-Need, a 26-passenger bus. Enthusiastic bidders raised their paddles high to signal their support for this much needed item. As a result of their combined generosity, $20,150 was pledged for the purchase of a bus!
	The Green Apple Gala was a success, providing over $84,000 to support Veritas’ mission. This spectacular event would not have been possible without the leadership of Wendi Goodson, who served as the Green Apple Gala Committee Chair. Over 30 volunteers joined Wendi in the planning and execution of this delightful event. We are grateful to each one who was part of the committee seeking sponsorships and item donations, bringing a beautiful vision to life in vibrant colors, making bidding and check-out flow smoothly, and providing enjoyment for all. Please thank Wendi and the Green Apple Gala Committee for their dedication and hard work.
